I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Last week was very busy at school. Our 7th graders and some other students kicked off ACAP testing. This week, we will be testing 6th and 8th-grade students. My message to all students was to give the test their “best,” and several students approached me to say they knew they had done their best. I am so proud!!

As I was in 8th-grade classrooms this week, I told them they had about 30 school days left, and I think I shocked them and myself. We have a lot to do in 30 school days, but rest assured, we are not going to lose our momentum, and we WILL finish strong.

April  17th is 6th and 8th Grade Science

*If your child receives state testing accommodations, some of the dates above might be different. You should have received a separate communication.

Progress reports will go LIVE in PowerSchool on Friday.

The Bumpus Cultural Fair will be held on May 19th. This is an all-day event highlighting the different cultures here at Bumpus and in our community. We are looking for anyone who may be interested in sharing their cultural knowledge through demonstrations, customs, traditions, etc. If you might be interested in assisting with this event, please complete the form below.

When a student is absent, a doctor's note or a parent note must be provided within three (3) days of the student’s return to school.

A parent note must include:

1. A written statement (with the student's FIRST and LAST name), the reason for the absence (emails without a signature are not accepted).

2. The date of the absence(s).

3. The parent’s signature.

Notes CAN BE EMAILED as long as there is a physical signature included to: bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us

When? Monday, April 27th, 2026—4:30 to approx. 8:00 p.m.

Rainout date: Tuesday, April 28th—4:30 p.m.

Who? Any 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grader in the Hoover City School system

Where? Hoover High School Track

Awards? Each finisher/competitor will receive a ribbon for their event. We will not be keeping track of finishing places for individuals or schools.

Costs? There is a $20 entry fee per student. This will cover the costs of a meet t-shirt, ribbons, and entry for all friends and family.

Entry deadline? All entries and entry fees must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 17th. This is so that t-shirts can be ordered and arrive on time.

These are being submitted to our attendance office as incomplete. Please see the instructions below and a copy of the attendance form. We must receive these in a timely, complete manner.

Parents, please complete the section of the form marked for parents.

Students, please complete the section of the form marked for students. Have your teachers complete the section marked for teachers and have each teacher sign the form. All students MUST get their teachers signatures and assignments on the Anticipated Absence form before it can be approved by admin. Please return the completed forms to Mrs. Rush in the 2nd floor office after the assignments and teachers signatures are on the form. 

After all parties complete the form, please RETURN the COMPLETED form to Mrs. Rush in the 2nd-floor office or email the COMPLETED form to bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us.
