A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

Happy Weekend! I hope you all enjoyed some of the beautiful weather. Please remember students are off Monday, February 16th! We will see them on Tuesday.

Below you will find information about our Curriculum Nights, which take place in the last week of February. We hope to see you all there.

This is a parent survey that HCS and ALSDE send out every year. It asks about the school's culture and climate. Your feedback is essential and helps us improve. I encourage you to take the time to fill it out. One of the first things I did last summer was read the survey results. These results truly show us how to steer the ship. I appreciate your time in completing this survey. Survey

Sunday, February 15th, is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! If you see Officer Morton dancing in the car rider line this week, give him a honk to show your appreciation!

Please scroll through this whole newsletter for updates. We appreciate everyone's continued support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call me.

With Pride,
Dr. Andrea Fordham

Important Messages from the School Nurses

Wellness Prevention

As cold and flu season is upon us, it is especially important that we do all we can to prevent the spread of germs. Below are some helpful tips from the school nurses on wellness prevention:

  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and warm, running water is our best line of defense against the spread of germs.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches a surface or object contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • If your child has a fever, they should remain at home. Children must be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school. This will help prevent the spread of illnesses to others. Click here to see when to keep your child home from school.
By working together, we can maintain a clean and healthy environment for our students and staff and limit the spread of germs. This also helps to prevent the sharing of germs with our family and friends outside of school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school nurse for guidance.
