A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

December is here, and we are nearing the end of the first semester. I still cannot believe that we are here. August feels like yesterday!

This week, we are administering our i-Ready diagnostic testing. We will start with math on Tuesday and then proceed to reading on Wednesday. Please help us by making sure your student is at school and ready to take this diagnostic test. Encourage your student to take their time and try their best. We want to gather the best possible data so that we can identify where we are excelling and where we need to put in a little more work. Please refrain from checking out your child before 10:45 am on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, we understand that life can be unpredictable, and we will help your student catch up if needed.

We are collecting Toys for Tots this week. If you feel led, please purchase an unopened/unused toy for a child this holiday season. You can send the toy with your child or drop it off at the front office.

We have our Winter Band Concert on Monday, December 8th, at the Hoover High School Performing Arts Center. We hope to see you there! The music begins at 6 pm.

We are also having our Winter Choir Concert on Tuesday, December 9th, at the Hoover High School Performing Arts Center. We hope to see you there! The music begins at 7 pm.

My message to students this past week, and for the next two weeks, is to focus on work, study for tests, try their best on projects, and finish the second nine weeks strong. We are all ready for a nice holiday break, but our teachers are definitely still working hard to wrap up their plans. Again, we appreciate you encouraging your student to finish strong.

10 days! We can do this! I hope you all are enjoying this season with your families. If you need anything, I am an email or phone call away.

With Pride,
Andrea Fordham

IMPORTANT NEWS

Toys for Tots Donations

The City of Hoover shared a growing need for Toys for Tots donations this year, and we’re excited to partner with them to support local families. Families are invited to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at our school anytime between December 8th and 11th. Toys should be in their original packaging and unused. A Marine will visit our school on December 12 to collect the donated toys and deliver them to families in need.

Thank you for helping spread joy this season!

Attendance Information

Attendance Matters Every Day
Mrs. Rush - 2nd floor
This year, parents are still required to physically sign parent notes and may not use an e-signature. Parents can submit the signed excuse either by attaching it via email (as done last year) or by attaching it using ParentSquare. Simply replying to the "your student has been marked absent" alert will not suffice unless the parent note or doctor note is attached.

Please remember to provide a handwritten note with your signature or a doctor's excuse within 3 days of their return to school.

NEW Anticipated Absence Form

Please use the new form for any planned absences.
Return the completed Anticipated Absence form to Mrs. Rush in the 2nd-floor office.

● Anticipated Absence Forms must be turned in AT LEAST 3 DAYS PRIOR to the absence
