December is here, and we are nearing the end of the first semester. I still cannot believe that we are here. August feels like yesterday!
This week, we are administering our i-Ready diagnostic testing. We will start with math on Tuesday and then proceed to reading on Wednesday. Please help us by making sure your student is at school and ready to take this diagnostic test. Encourage your student to take their time and try their best. We want to gather the best possible data so that we can identify where we are excelling and where we need to put in a little more work. Please refrain from checking out your child before 10:45 am on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, we understand that life can be unpredictable, and we will help your student catch up if needed.
We are collecting Toys for Tots this week. If you feel led, please purchase an unopened/unused toy for a child this holiday season. You can send the toy with your child or drop it off at the front office.
We have our Winter Band Concert on Monday, December 8th, at the Hoover High School Performing Arts Center. We hope to see you there! The music begins at 6 pm.
We are also having our Winter Choir Concert on Tuesday, December 9th, at the Hoover High School Performing Arts Center. We hope to see you there! The music begins at 7 pm.
My message to students this past week, and for the next two weeks, is to focus on work, study for tests, try their best on projects, and finish the second nine weeks strong. We are all ready for a nice holiday break, but our teachers are definitely still working hard to wrap up their plans. Again, we appreciate you encouraging your student to finish strong.
10 days! We can do this! I hope you all are enjoying this season with your families. If you need anything, I am an email or phone call away.
With Pride,
Andrea Fordham
