A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

It is November! If you are like me, you are welcoming all of the fall colors and cooler weather. We had a great week at Bumpus last week, celebrating our Red Ribbon Week. I appreciate our counselors and all of the hard work they put into planning the week for the school.

We will be hosting two Veteran’s Day Programs, by grade level, on Thursday. Please see the graphic in this e-news for more information. There will be no school on November 11th in honor of Veterans’ Day.

In the last month, I have participated in many parent meetings, and often, I Ready diagnostics are brought up. Here is a link to help you look at and understand your students' scores. Additionally, under the Parent Resources tab on our website, you will find quick “how-to” videos for parents on navigating PowerSchool and Google Classroom. These are great resources for parents. However, the best resource is your student. They are pros at navigating these platforms. I Ready How To Link

I am looking forward to a busy, but great week. I hope everyone takes advantage of the extra hour of sleep.

I am just a phone call or email away if you have any questions or concerns.

With Pride,
Andrea Fordham

Finley Award Recommendations Wanted

Each year, HCS and the Finley Committee honor individuals in our schools who exemplify outstanding character. One employee and a twelfth-grade student from each high school will be recognized and celebrated at the annual Finley Character Recognition Awards Program in March.

We invite you to be part of this tradition by recommending a deserving employee or high school student. The deadline for recommendations is December 1.

LOST AND FOUND

Lost and found
PLEASE be sure to send your children to check the Lost and Found area for missing water bottles and lunch boxes. These items seem to multiply in Lost and Found daily.

Please also LABEL all items with First and Last names. If items are labeled with names-- even water bottles-- they can be returned to the student.

All unclaimed and unlabeled items will be donated to charity once the bins are full.

Attendance Information

Attendance Matters Every Day
Mrs. Rush - 2nd floor
This year, parents are still required to physically sign parent notes and may not use an e-signature. Parents can submit the signed excuse either by attaching it via email (as done last year) or by attaching it using ParentSquare. Simply replying to the "your student has been marked absent" alert will not suffice unless the parent note or doctor note is attached.

Please remember to provide a handwritten note with your signature or a doctor's excuse within 3 days of their return to school.

NEW Anticipated Absence Form

Please use the new form for any planned absences.
Return the completed Anticipated Absence form to Mrs. Rush in the 2nd-floor office.
