A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

I hope this message finds you well. We had a great short week at Bumpus. Our fall sports have officially wrapped up their seasons, and we are quickly moving into “winter” sports and other activities. 

Report cards went LIVE in Power School on Friday. Please take the time to review your students' grades with them. Also, by Wednesday, your child will bring home their diagnostic folder. This folder contains I Ready Beginning of the Year results (taken in August) and their ACAP scores (taken in April). Please sign the parent sheet in the folder and return it to school with your student. Teachers use this folder to have meaningful conversations with students so they understand where they have been and can make plans to move forward.

Parents, Would you like to volunteer in the Bumpus Library? Volunteering in the library is once a month. Choose the day of the week and a time that works best for your schedule. LOST AND FOUND

PLEASE be sure to send your children to check the Lost and Found area for missing water bottles and lunch boxes. These items seem to multiply in Lost and Found daily.

Please also LABEL all items with First and Last names. If items are labeled with names-- even water bottles-- they can be returned to the student.

All unclaimed and unlabeled items will be donated to charity once the bins are full.

Literary Magazine Information

Bumpus has a literary magazine. Its 2025 theme is Avenger. We are looking for a design to place on the back cover and creative writings to place inside the magazine. Please consider submitting your best work. If students need inspiration, they can check out the TV monitors to see the front cover and a few of the inside page spreads. Deadline for submissions is November 21st.

REMINDERS-- PLEASE READ!

  • If you are serving at Bumpus or in our community-- You MUST have a Bucs Serve Expectations contract signed by you and your parents on file. No exceptions. Community Service Awards cannot be received without an Expectations Contract.
  • If you are serving at Bumpus-- You must be reading ALL EMAILS and checking our Google Classroom for updates and reminders.

Boys Golf Tryouts Parents and Students must check the information on Google Classroom! Boys will NOT be allowed to try out unless they provide the missing items by Sunday October 19th!

Hoover Color Guard - Winter Guard Auditions Coming UP!

The HHS Color Guard will be holding auditions for our Winter Competition Season the week of November 3rd. We now have a 3rd group that is designed for 7th, 8th and beginner High School students as well as our JV and Varsity teams. No prior experience needed...just a willingness to learn and work hard as well as desire to perform! We will be having a MANDATORY PARENT MEETING on Monday, October 20th at 7:30pm in the HHS Band Room. Please see THIS VIDEO or THIS FLYER for more information about the program and auditions

Attendance Information

Attendance Matters Every Day Mrs. Rush - 2nd floor This year, parents are still required to physically sign parent notes and may not use an e-signature. Parents can submit the signed excuse either by attaching it via email (as done last year) or by attaching it using ParentSquare. Simply replying to the "your student has been marked absent" alert will not suffice unless the parent note or doctor note is attached. Please remember to provide a handwritten note with your signature or a doctor's excuse within 3 days of their return to school.
Attendance Reminders: Please email bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us or call (205) 439-2268 concerning all attendance issues. ● Turn in notes WITHIN 3 DAYS OF ABSENCE in the gray boxes or to Mrs. Rush. ● Notes CAN BE EMAILED as long as there is a signature to: bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us ● ONLY 9 PARENT EXCUSED absences per year ● Anticipated Absence Forms must be turned in AT LEAST 3 DAYS PRIOR to the absence
