A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

I hope you all are enjoying fall break. If you have not seen pictures of our Color Run, please check out our social media outlet. I will share pictures as soon as we have links from Iron City and our own Mr. Doss.

Thank you to our PTO, who have worked tirelessly to make this day happen. The Bumpus faculty also planned a fun-filled day. Thank you to our families who donated to make this day happen, whether it was coolers, tents, water, ice, or food; the day truly could not have happened without everyone's effort. I know we all slept well on Thursday night.

If you have an 8th-grade student, please ask them about their field trip to RC3 if you have not already. The facility is impressive, and they all learned a lot.

My personal plans this weekend are to take time to relax and reflect. You all, along with the faculty and staff, have made me feel welcome. Daily, I learn more and more about what it means to be a Bumpus BUC. Our future is bright!

As we return to school to start the second nine weeks, I hope students feel accustomed to our school and can truly thrive. 

If you ever need anything, I am a phone call or an email away. I look forward to welcoming cooler weather and time spent with family.

Parent Volunteers Needed in the Library

Parents, Would you like to volunteer in the Bumpus Library? Volunteering in the library is once a month. Choose the day of the week and a time that works best for your schedule. Days Times Tuesday - Friday Morning 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M Lunch schedule 10:30 to 1:30 Afternoon 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. LOST AND FOUND

PLEASE be sure to send your children to check the Lost and Found area for missing water bottles and lunch boxes. These items seem to multiply in Lost and Found daily.

Please also LABEL all items with First and Last names. If items are labeled with names-- even water bottles-- they can be returned to the student.

All unclaimed and unlabeled items will be donated to charity once the bins are full.

  • If you are serving at Bumpus or in our community-- You MUST have a Bucs Serve Expectations contract signed by you and your parents on file. No exceptions. Community Service Awards cannot be received without an Expectations Contract.
  • If you are serving at Bumpus-- You must be reading ALL EMAILS and checking our Google Classroom for updates and reminders.

Bumpus Bucs Football

METRO-SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

The matchups for the Metro-South football playoff next week have been set. Our 7th-grade football team will be playing for the Metro-South Championship versus Homewood Wednesday 10/15 at Hoover High at 5:00pm. The 8th grade will be playing versus Homewood immediately after at 6:45pm. Please come out and support our players, cheerleaders, band, dancers, and our school! Go Bucs!

Hoover Color Guard - Winter Guard Auditions Coming UP!

The HHS Color Guard will be holding auditions for our Winter Competition Season the week of November 3rd. We now have a 3rd group that is designed for 7th, 8th and beginner High School students as well as our JV and Varsity teams. No prior experience needed...just a willingness to learn and work hard as well as desire to perform! We will be having a MANDATORY PARENT MEETING on Monday, October 20th at 7:30pm in the HHS Band Room. Please see THIS VIDEO or THIS FLYER for more information about the program and auditions

Attendance Information

Attendance Matters Every Day Mrs. Rush - 2nd floor This year, parents are still required to physically sign parent notes and may not use an e-signature. Parents can submit the signed excuse either by attaching it via email (as done last year) or by attaching it using ParentSquare. Simply replying to the "your student has been marked absent" alert will not suffice unless the parent note or doctor note is attached. Please remember to provide a handwritten note with your signature or a doctor's excuse within 3 days of their return to school.
Attendance Reminders: Please email bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us or call (205) 439-2268 concerning all attendance issues. ● Turn in notes WITHIN 3 DAYS OF ABSENCE in the gray boxes or to Mrs. Rush. ● Notes CAN BE EMAILED as long as there is a signature to: bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us ● ONLY 9 PARENT EXCUSED absences per year ● Anticipated Absence Forms must be turned in AT LEAST 3 DAYS PRIOR to the absence
