A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

We have had a great week! I am still waiting for the cooler weather! Our PTO spoiled our faculty and staff with a Tailgating Party, and all the goodies were delicious. I know our teachers look forward to our fall break like you and your families. 

We will finish the 9 weeks out strong and end it with our COLOR RUN! If you are on social media, check out your favorite administrators and how we got the kids all hyped up for the big event.

Color Runs last cash/check payment day is Oct 6th! However, you can still pay my school fees. 

Bumpus showed up strong, wearing yellow and gold for our Childhood Cancer Awareness Hope for Autumn Day! It is wonderful to see all of our school spirit and us coming together as a community. 

Friendly reminder, there is no school for students from Oct 10th to 14th.

RC3 Experience Day for Bumpus 8th-Graders 10/8

RC3
Bumpus 8th-grade students will take a trip to the Riverchase Career Connection Center (RC3) on 10/8/25 from 11:45-2:00. During this event, students will be able to take a tour of the facility. RC3 serves students from both Hoover High School (HHS) and Spain Park High School (SPHS), as well as Homewood High School, and is located in the Riverchase area. 

During this Experience Day, students will meet with some of RC3's English and Math teachers to discover some of the unique features of RC3 and what a typical "shift" looks like. Students will also be able to provide input in selecting a "deep dive" experience of 2 of the 6 academies offered at RC3, which are:

  • Automotive Academy
  • Cosmetology and Barbering Academy 
  • Culinary and Hospitality Academy
  • Cyber Innovation Academy
  • Fire Science Academy
  • Health Science Academy
  • Construction Science Academy

COLOR RUN SIGNUP TIME!

Sign up today to help make the 2025 Bumpus Color Run the best yet! We need help with set up and clean up (ESPECIALLY families with Pickup Trucks). Other roles for parents include cheering on our runners, getting messy at the Color Stations, and keeping our kids hydrated! Don’t miss out on this fun day with your kids. Parent Volunteers Needed in the Library

Parents, Would you like to volunteer in the Bumpus Library? Volunteering in the library is once a month. Choose the day of the week and a time that works best for your schedule. Days Times Tuesday - Friday Morning 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M Lunch schedule 10:30 to 1:30 Afternoon 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. LOST AND FOUND

PLEASE be sure to send your children to check the Lost and Found area for missing water bottles and lunch boxes. These items seem to multiply in Lost and Found daily.

Please also LABEL all items with First and Last names. If items are labeled with names-- even water bottles-- they can be returned to the student.

All unclaimed and unlabeled items will be donated to charity once the bins are full.

BUCS Serve- Community Service Information

In an effort to keep to our Bumpus Core Values of responsibility and integrity-- only students can access the sign-up form using their HCS email. Parents, please have your student sign up for their community service dates and discuss when they can serve with you.
If you want to get involved with Community Service, please join the Bucs Serve Google Classroom and find out how to join us to serve. Join our BUCS Serve Google Classroom in order to participate: osuzb6c Be sure to get an orange Bucs Contract outside of A122 for more information. Everyone who serves at Bumpus or in our community MUST have a signed contract.

Attendance Information

Attendance Matters Every Day Mrs. Rush - 2nd floor This year, parents are still required to physically sign parent notes and may not use an e-signature. Parents can submit the signed excuse either by attaching it via email (as done last year) or by attaching it using ParentSquare. Simply replying to the "your student has been marked absent" alert will not suffice unless the parent note or doctor note is attached. Please remember to provide a handwritten note with your signature or a doctor's excuse within 3 days of their return to school.
Attendance Reminders: Please email bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us or call (205) 439-2268 concerning all attendance issues. ● Turn in notes WITHIN 3 DAYS OF ABSENCE in the gray boxes or to Mrs. Rush. ● Notes CAN BE EMAILED as long as there is a signature to: bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us ● ONLY 9 PARENT EXCUSED absences per year ● Anticipated Absence Forms must be turned in AT LEAST 3 DAYS PRIOR to the absence
