Bumpus Family--

Happy Weekend! If you are like me, you are still anxiously waiting for the cooler weather. I cannot believe we are approaching the end of September. Many events are in full swing. I love seeing students trying out for various activities at Bumpus and getting involved in activities that everyone can be involved in. We truly are ONE community.

COLOR RUN IS COMING! I am beyond excited!! Monday is cash/check day. We will have PTO on campus if you want to pay that way instead of paying on My School Fees. Just send the $35 in cash or check (checks made payable to Bumpus Middle School) with your child to school, and we will handle the rest. The price goes up to $40 on Sept 24th. Color Run is the only major fundraiser we do for our school, and all proceeds go back to classrooms and other events at our school. The students LOVE this day. Remember, it is like a fun run, not a race.

You can also go to our PTO’s social media pages and find a QR code to sign up to volunteer for the day if you would like. Email all questions to bumpuspto25@gmail.com

On Thursday, September 25th, we ask our Bumpus family to wear yellow or gold to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

COLOR RUN SIGNUP TIME!

Sign up today to help make the 2025 Bumpus Color Run the best yet! We need help with set up and clean up (ESPECIALLY families with Pickup Trucks). Other roles for parents include cheering on our runners, getting messy at the Color Stations, and keeping our kids hydrated! Don’t miss out on this fun day with your kids. LOST AND FOUND

PLEASE be sure to send your children to check the Lost and Found area for missing water bottles and lunch boxes. These items seem to multiply in Lost and Found daily.

Please also LABEL all items with First and Last names. If items are labeled with names-- even water bottles-- they can be returned to the student.

All unclaimed and unlabeled items will be donated to charity once the bins are full.

BUCS Serve- Community Service Information

In an effort to keep to our Bumpus Core Values of responsibility and integrity-- only students can access the sign-up form using their HCS email. Parents, please have your student sign up for their community service dates and discuss when they can serve with you.
If you missed the Information Meeting– Please join the Bucs Serve Google Classroom and find out how to join us to serve. Join our BUCS Serve Google Classroom in order to participate: osuzb6c If you attended the meeting– join the Google Classroom if you have not done so AND turn your orange contracts into the Red Basket outside of A122 or put them in Mrs. Burbridge/Mrs. Stanton’s mailboxes in the 1st Floor Teacher Workroom.
Community Service Reminders: If you are planning to do community service at Bumpus this year, or you are planning to serve in our community to get your 60 hours for the Community Service Award– you must complete an Orange Community Service Contract before you submit your hours for the Award. Only Students can access the Bucs Serve Google Form to sign up for Bumpus dates using their HCS email address Teal 25-26 Community Service forms and Orange Contracts can be found outside of A122 in the hanging baskets by the door. Completed contracts can be turned into the Completed Forms basket also outside A122.

Hoover Bucs MTB Tryouts

Hoover Bucs Mountain Bike Team Info Meeting:

Any 6th, 7th, or 8th-grade GIRLS and BOYS interested in joining the Hoover Bucs Mountain Bike (MTB) Team, please come to our Information Meeting on Monday, September 22 from 6pm - 7pm at the Hoover High School back parking lot (look for our team tent). Our upcoming racing Season is fast approaching, and we’re excited for another fun-filled Season! So, if you want to ride your mountain bike through the woods on single track trails over rocks/roots and other surprises with your teammates and other teams, then please come to the meeting to hear all about our upcoming season and what we’re all about, and how to join the team! If you can’t make the meeting or have any questions, email Coach David Crossman at hooverbucsmtb@gmail.com.

HHS Color Guard Manager Applications

Attention all current 7th and 8th-grade students! If you are interested in being considered for a HHS Color Guard Manager this year, please complete an application and submit it by Wednesday, September 24th at 5pm. Being an HHS color guard manager means you will attend all the HHS Varsity football games and assist with the half-time performance. You also sit in the stands with the HHS band and help cheer on the BUCS! This is a great opportunity for those who might be interested in joining our team in the future to experience what Friday Night Lights with the HHS Guard is all about!

Attendance Information

Attendance Matters Every Day Mrs. Rush - 2nd floor This year, parents are still required to physically sign parent notes and may not use an e-signature. Parents can submit the signed excuse either by attaching it via email (as done last year) or by attaching it using ParentSquare. Simply replying to the "your student has been marked absent" alert will not suffice unless the parent note or doctor note is attached. Please remember to provide a handwritten note with your signature or a doctor's excuse within 3 days of their return to school.
Attendance Reminders: Please email bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us or call (205) 439-2268 concerning all attendance issues. ● Turn in notes WITHIN 3 DAYS OF ABSENCE in the gray boxes or to Mrs. Rush. ● Notes CAN BE EMAILED as long as there is a signature to: bumpusattendance@hoover.k12.al.us ● ONLY 9 PARENT EXCUSED absences per year ● Anticipated Absence Forms must be turned in AT LEAST 3 DAYS PRIOR to the absence
