A message from our Principal

Donna Burke

Dear Parents and Guardians-

WOW!  What an incredible year and what a wonderful ride it has been in Hoover City Schools and at Bumpus Middle School! As you know, I will be retiring effective July 1st, and I want to say THANK YOU to the students and parents who have been a part of my life for the last 14 years at Bumpus.

We have definitely had our ups and downs throughout the years as we have grown from 600 kiddos in 7th & 8th grade to almost 1200 in our school today.  I have to say the good memories far outweigh the growing pains we have had throughout the years. The love and support from this community throughout the years has been overwhelming!

I will be in and out of the office during June, but if you need me, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for everything & GO BUCS!

Donna Burke
Principal

Important Information for Incoming High School Students & Families

Dear Students and Families,
We are thrilled to welcome you to Hoover High School! As you begin this exciting transition from middle school, we want to share a few important policies and procedures to help make your start as smooth as possible.
At Hoover, we encourage students to build independence and responsibility, and part of that includes coming to school fully prepared each day. Please make sure your student arrives each morning with all the items they need, including:
  • Backpack
  • Chromebook and charger
  • Instruments
  • Uniforms or clothing for extracurriculars
  • Lunch/money
  • Any necessary school supplies
Drop-Off Policy
To minimize classroom disruptions, Hoover High only accepts emergency medical item drop-offs during the school day (e.g., medication, inhalers, emergency replacement clothing, feminine supplies, etc.). We do not accept forgotten items such as instruments, lunches, or Chromebooks at the office.
However, parents are welcome to meet students in the lobby during their Crew period or between class bells if they need to hand something off directly. In addition, athletic gear may be dropped off directly at practice locations after school.

To support rising 9th-grade parents in the fall, Hoover High put together an "HHS Who Can Help Me" form featuring key staff names and email addresses for easy reference.

We appreciate your support in helping students build daily habits that lead to success in high school and beyond. We’re so glad you’re joining the Hoover community and look forward to a fantastic year!
