Bumpus Core Values
A message from our Principal
Donna Burke in front of Bumpus
Greetings Bumpus Families,
We have completed our first nine weeks and grades have been posted in the PowerSchool portal. If you do not have access to the portal, please contact Carol Stone, our registrar at cstone@hoover.k12.al.us.

In addition to accessing the portal, we have also created a Data folder for each student. In the data folder you will find:
  1. First Nine Week report card.
  2. iReady Score Report from August (if the student was in school at RFB in August).
  3. ACAP Score Report (if your child was in a Hoover City School last spring).
  4. Directions on how to read the iReady Report.
  5. Directions on how to read the ACAP Report.
  6. Goal Setting sheets for the students.
  7. Parent signature form.

Some students took the Data folder home Friday, but if not, they will bring it home first of the week. Our focus is on Individual Growth. We want our students to understand that they should not compare themselves to others, but only set personal goals related to personal growth in both academics and behavior related to our Core Values.

Setting growth goals is often a hard concept for our students, but with your help, we hope they set these personal growth goals for themselves. Please take time to sit with your child to review the items in the folder. Once you have reviewed the items, sign off on the parent signature form and have the student return the folder with all items back in the folder. Feel free to make copies but it is important for the items to remain in the folders so we can refer to them at the end of each nine-week grading period.

Have a great weekend & Go Bucs!

Principal,
Donna Burke

Support Our Schools with Game On! – A Night of Foundation Family Fun
The Hoover City Schools Foundation is thrilled to introduce our upcoming fundraiser, Game On! A Night of Foundation Family Fun! This unique event is all about giving back — without even leaving your home. Instead of attending a traditional fundraiser, we’re inviting families to enjoy a priceless evening together and donate what they would have spent on event tickets, babysitters, and extras to the Hoover City Schools Foundation. Here's how it works:
  • Date & Time: Any day between October 21-November 1, 2024 – in the comfort of your own home.
  • Event Overview: Skip the hassle of getting dressed up and hiring a babysitter. Instead, spend quality time with your family at home, whether it’s playing games, watching a movie, or simply enjoying each other's company. In exchange, make a donation to the Foundation that reflects what you would have spent on a night out.
  • The Impact: Every donation supports our teacher grant program, which funds innovative classroom projects and enrichment activities that go beyond the standard curriculum. By contributing, you’re investing in the future of our students and schools. We are setting our goal at $15,000!
What Your Gifts Can Do:
  • $50 can send one fifth grade student to The Hovercraft Project
  • $100 can sponsor two students for GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math and Science)
  • $250 can be used for STEM experiments
  • $500 funds 25% of a classroom grant
We know that family time is precious and hard to come by, so Game On! is your chance to combine a night of togetherness with meaningful support for our schools.

You can write an encouraging statement, the name of a loved one impacted, or your name on the ribbon.
