I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend celebrating all the moms and those who take on the role of mom to a child. I often referred to my students as “my kids,” and as they grew up and approached me as high school students and beyond, I still looked at them and remembered them as 7th-grade students. It is truly nostalgic. For most, I can remember exactly where they sat in my classroom.
Can you all believe we have 9 school days left??!! That is wild to me! We still have so much to do (or at least I do).
Awards Day will be on May 18th, and you will receive a message by May 12th if your child will be receiving an award. We made some changes this year to the criteria for some awards. A committee of teachers has put a lot of thought into this process.
Here are the times:
8:45-10:00am = 6th grade
10:30-11:45am = 8th grade
1:00-2:15pm = 7th grade
Some other celebrations! We took our I Ready diagnostics and saw some great growth!! AND our ELL students did GREAT on their ACCESS diagnostics in February! We saw significant growth in that area and had 6 students exit the program! THAT IS HUGE!! A special thanks to Mrs. El Kaissi and all of the teachers who work with these students, and especially to the student who worked so hard.
Yearbook distribution is on Friday! Cultural Fair is May 19th!
The Champion Games for our AAS students were amazing this past week!! It was so much fun to watch them SHINE!
Please encourage your students to keep working and keep trying. While we are approaching the finish line, we have more to accomplish.
Feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
With Pride,
Dr. Andrea Fordham
