A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. We are officially done with ACAP testing! That is such a relief! However, we are not done working. We want to finish these next few weeks strong!

Friday, May 1, we have A LOT going on. We will be having a Magic Moments pep rally with a science theme. It is going to be EPIC! Then, we will be having our ACAP Celebration Field Day by grade level.

Due to the field day, the car rider line will be blocked off until around 3:15, so please do not plan to arrive early.

Speaking of the car rider line, here are two reminders. If you do arrive early, you must follow the arrows and pull all the way to the front. Also, the front of the school is NOT a car rider line. That is reserved for buses. Therefore, if you arrive before 3:45 pm, you must go through the car rider line. Passing buses in front of the school with their stop signs is just like passing them on the road. This is dangerous. Please do not do that. Please ensure you pick up the students by 4:15 at the latest.

We have had an influx of outside food being brought to students for lunch. Please know that all food must be in unmarked bags or lunch boxes. This includes drinks. If food or drinks are brought in for students for lunch and they are in original packaging, your student will eat lunch in the office, and then go to the lunchroom and/or class once they are done. I appreciate your help with this.

Registration is OPEN! Please register your child for the 26/27 school year. Enrollment numbers are imperative to ensure our school is staffed appropriately.

Information for current 8th-grade students:
We’re excited to invite students (rising ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades)  to apply for the Hoover City Schools Foundation Student Board—a unique opportunity to represent their school while making a meaningful impact across our community.
Student Board members serve as ambassadors for the Foundation, helping share the story of how grants support innovative learning experiences in our classrooms. Participants will gain valuable leadership experience, build connections, and actively support Foundation events and initiatives.
In addition, students will have access to meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the year, allowing them to earn community service hours while giving back to Hoover City Schools in a tangible way.

We encourage you to share this opportunity with students who demonstrate leadership, initiative, and a passion for serving others.

Deadline: May 6, 2026       Link to Application Here: https://forms.gle/rDNDWYr677iRXQvr9
Thank you for helping us empower students to lead, serve, and make a difference.
Feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.

With Pride,
Dr. Andrea Fordham

Important Messages from the School Nurses

Wellness Prevention

As cold and flu season is upon us, it is especially important that we do all we can to prevent the spread of germs. Below are some helpful tips from the school nurses on wellness prevention:

  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and warm, running water is our best line of defense against the spread of germs.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches a surface or object contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • If your child has a fever, they should remain at home. Children must be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school. This will help prevent the spread of illnesses to others. Click here to see when to keep your child home from school.
By working together, we can maintain a clean and healthy environment for our students and staff and limit the spread of germs. This also helps to prevent the sharing of germs with our family and friends outside of school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school nurse for guidance.
