A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

Happy April! I cannot believe it is already April. We are full “spring” ahead. ACAP testing is starting this week. I have been in classrooms all week, and that has been a pure joy. I have two more 8th-grade teams to visit.

I have been expressing my expectations for all students to give the test “their best!” It was so much fun for me to get them excited, and hopefully, I inspired them. I asked them all to go to bed on time, eat breakfast, stay focused, “lock it in,” don’t put their head down while testing, and slow down and read all of the questions.

Below are the dates for each grade. Each day, testing should conclude by 11. Please try to ensure that your student is at school. We appreciate your help with this.

April 7th is 7th Grade ELA
April  8th is the 7th Grade ELA Part 2
April 9th is 7th Grade Math

April  14th is 6th and 8th Grade ELA
April  15th is 6th and 8th Grade ELA Part 2
April  16th is 6th and 8th Grade Math
April  17th is 6th and 8th Grade Science
*If your child receives state testing accommodations, some of the dates above might be different. You should have received a separate communication.

This week is Assistant Principals Week! Bumpus has 3 great assistant principals!

There is no school for students on Friday, April 10th.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call me.

With Pride,
Dr. Andrea Fordham

Important Messages from the School Nurses

Wellness Prevention

As cold and flu season is upon us, it is especially important that we do all we can to prevent the spread of germs. Below are some helpful tips from the school nurses on wellness prevention:

  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and warm, running water is our best line of defense against the spread of germs.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches a surface or object contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • If your child has a fever, they should remain at home. Children must be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school. This will help prevent the spread of illnesses to others. Click here to see when to keep your child home from school.
By working together, we can maintain a clean and healthy environment for our students and staff and limit the spread of germs. This also helps to prevent the sharing of germs with our family and friends outside of school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school nurse for guidance.
