A message from our Principal

Bumpus Family--

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful spring break. I am thankful for time off, and I am recharged and ready to finish this school year strong. Many events are happening, so please make sure you scroll through the whole newsletter.

First, I want to apologize for. There was a typo in my message from last Friday. ACAP testing starts for 7th grade the week of April 6th. You will find the schedule below for all 3 grades. Please try to avoid checkouts and absences during testing days. We should be done with testing by 11 am daily.

April 7th is 7th Grade ELA
April 8th is the 7th Grade ELA Part 2
April 9th is 7th Grade Math

April  14th is 6th and 8th Grade ELA
April  15th is 6th and 8th Grade ELA Part 2
April  16th is 6th and 8th Grade Math
April  17th is 6th and 8th Grade Science
*If your child receives state testing accommodations, some of the dates above might be different. You will receive separate communication.

I will be visiting classrooms this upcoming week until next Monday, explaining my expectations for our students during state testing. My message will be: “Do your best, all I can ask for is the very best you can give.”

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call me.

With Pride,
Dr. Andrea Fordham

NEWS FROM THE PTO

Introducing the New Faculty and Staff Lounge!

We are so proud to finally introduce you to something the PTO Board at Bumpus has designated a lot of funds to and poured a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into. We’ve been planning this renovation for a year now, so having this project finally finished and ready to use by our faculty and staff is such a sweet moment for us!
Flip through the images to see before and after pictures of the new Bumpus Faculty Lounge. We hope it serves our faculty and staff well now that they have a calm and peaceful place to come and unwind and recharge.
Enormous thanks goes to Brendt Blanks at She Gave It A Go for her absolutely flawless design magic, and to Ken Gaddis, a.k.a. “The Hoover Handyman,” for all he did to help us assemble furniture and decor for the room! You can find Ken over at his website at: http://www.thehooverhandyman.com/.
We can’t recommend these fantastic Bumpus parents enough for their business, so check them out and support the businesses that support our school!

Important Messages from the School Nurses

Wellness Prevention

As cold and flu season is upon us, it is especially important that we do all we can to prevent the spread of germs. Below are some helpful tips from the school nurses on wellness prevention:

  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and warm, running water is our best line of defense against the spread of germs.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches a surface or object contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • If your child has a fever, they should remain at home. Children must be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school. This will help prevent the spread of illnesses to others. Click here to see when to keep your child home from school.
By working together, we can maintain a clean and healthy environment for our students and staff and limit the spread of germs. This also helps to prevent the sharing of germs with our family and friends outside of school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school nurse for guidance.
