National Junior Honor Society

Invitation letters will be sent out by Friday, January 19 after Semester 1 report cards are verified. Letters will have instructions on how students can apply for membership into the Bumpus Chapter of NJHS. 

If the Bumpus Chapter accepts applications, students will have to complete and/or document 10 hours of community service (from June 1, 2023 to March 1, 2024), pay their $25 NJHS dues, and students and parents will have to sign the NJHS Membership Agreement contract.

Community Service Days will be held at Bumpus on January 25, February 8, and February 22 from 3:30-5:30pm and February 10 from 10:00am-2:00pm for students to gain community service hours.

Once all requirements are met, students will be inducted into the Bumpus Chapter of NJHS. 

The Induction Ceremony will be held on March 6, 2024.

 

NJHS Academic Requirements:

  • 8th graders must have an overall average of 92% in all core classes. For example - 90% in Math, 95% in ELA, 91% in SS, and 92% in Science is a combined average of 92%.
  • Grades in all other classes cannot be below 80%.
  • Averages will not be rounded since Power School already rounds overall grades.
  • No grades will be "weighted.” 
  • This will be based on your 1st Semester grades.

Bumpus NJHS Requirements:

Application completed and accepted by the Bumpus Chapter.  10 hours of Community Service. Documentation of hours needs to be completed on the NJHS Community Service Form.
